Terms of use

The terms for using this website and asking us for an offer on your car, written to be read rather than skimmed.

Last updated: 30 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use sellcar.nl and when you ask us for an offer on your car. By sending a request you accept them. If you do not agree with something here, please do not send a request, and feel free to ask us about it first.

2. Asking for an offer

Asking for an offer is free and does not commit you to anything. You can stop at any point, before or after you receive an offer, without giving a reason.

A request is not a sale. Nothing is bought or sold until you accept our offer and we agree the sale with you.

3. The details you give us

We base our offer on what you tell us and on what the RDW register says about the car. We ask you to:

  • describe the car honestly, including damage, faults and warning lights you know about;
  • give the real mileage as far as you know it;
  • only send photos of the car the request is about;
  • only ask for an offer on a car you are allowed to sell, because it is registered in your name or because the registered owner agrees and will take part in the sale.

4. Our offer

We send the offer by email, with a personal link where you can accept or decline it. The offer is for the car as you described it. An offer does not stay open forever: your offer page always shows whether it can still be accepted.

When we see the car at the handover, we check it against your description. If it differs in a way that matters, for example damage that was not mentioned, we tell you and may change or withdraw the offer. You are then free to decline as well, with no cost to you.

Before the sale is completed we agree the remaining details with you, such as the moment and place of the handover, the payment and the transfer of the registration.

5. Information on this website

The guides and explanations on this site are written with care and checked against official sources where we can. They are general information about selling a car in the Netherlands, not legal, tax or financial advice for your situation. Rules change, so for a decision that matters, check with the RDW, the Belastingdienst or another official source.

We are not responsible for the content of other websites we link to.

6. Using the website

Please use the website and the sell form only for their purpose. Automated requests, false requests or attempts to disrupt the site are not allowed, and we may block them.

The texts, design and images on this website are ours or used with permission. You may not copy them for commercial use without asking us.

7. Liability

We do our best to keep the website available and correct, but we cannot promise that it is always online or free of errors. We are not liable for damage caused by using the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under Dutch law.

8. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is described in the privacy policy.

9. Changes, law and questions

We may update these terms when the service changes. The version on this page at the moment you send a request applies to that request.

Dutch law applies to these terms.

Questions about these terms, or a complaint, can be sent by WhatsApp or +31 6 12 40 80 16. We answer in English.
