Selling your Ford Fiesta

Ford stopped building the Fiesta in 2023, after more than forty years. There are still many on Dutch roads and a steady market for used ones, including cars with high mileage.

The Ford Fiesta on the Dutch market

Most Fiestas for sale in the Netherlands are from the sixth generation (2008 to 2017) or the seventh (2017 to 2023). Many were bought as cheap, practical transport and have high mileage and a few cosmetic marks.

Because so many were sold, parts are easy to find and there is a large pool of buyers. That keeps an older Fiesta saleable at an age when less common cars become harder to sell.

What moves the value

No price estimates here, because a number published today is wrong by next month. This is what we actually look at.

The 1.0 EcoBoost engine

Many Fiestas from 2012 onwards have the three cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engine. Its timing belt runs in oil and must be replaced on schedule. Tell us when it was last done, if you know.

Powershift automatic

Some automatic Fiestas have the Powershift, a dual clutch gearbox. Tell us whether yours shudders or hesitates when pulling away, and whether any work has been done on it.

Cosmetic condition

Car park dents and kerbed wheels are normal on a small car in Dutch towns. They lower the offer a little and are worth a photo.

What has been replaced

Recent work counts in your favour. A new clutch, a new battery or new tyres are worth mentioning, with the invoice if you kept it.

Worth mentioning in your request

Your plate gives us the basics. These are the things only you can tell us.

  1. Which engine it has, and whether it is manual or automatic
  2. When the timing belt was last replaced, if you know
  3. Anything that has been replaced recently, with the invoice if you have it
  4. Whether the air conditioning still works

Questions about selling a Ford Fiesta

Ford no longer makes the Fiesta. Does that lower the offer?

Not by itself. There are many Fiestas in the Netherlands, so parts and buyers are easy to find. The offer depends on the version, the mileage and the condition.

I do not know when the timing belt was replaced. Is that a problem?

No, but tell us that you do not know. If there is a service book or an invoice, a photo of the page helps. We take it into account in the offer.

Do you buy cars with damage or high mileage?

We do. Tell us about the damage or the mileage and we take it into account in the offer.

Do I need to clean or repair anything first?

No. Repairs before a sale rarely earn back what they cost, and we make the offer on the car as it is. A quick clean is welcome but not expected.
