Selling your Suzuki Swift

The Swift is a small, simple car that many owners keep for a long time. A long, documented ownership history counts when you sell one.

The Suzuki Swift on the Dutch market

Most used Swifts in the Netherlands come from four generations: 2005 to 2010, 2010 to 2017, 2017 to 2024, and the current car from 2024. From 2017 many have a 1.2 petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. The Swift Sport is the faster version.

Swifts are less common than a Polo or a Fiesta. That means fewer competing cars for sale and also a smaller pool of buyers, so condition and history weigh heavily.

What moves the value

No price estimates here, because a number published today is wrong by next month. This is what we actually look at.

One owner for a long time

Swifts are often kept for years by the same person. A long ownership history with service stamps is worth having, so find the service book.

Mileage against age

A Swift with high mileage and a steady service history often holds its value better than the mileage alone suggests.

Rust on older cars

On cars from the first two generations, look at the sills and the wheel arches. If there is rust, photograph it. It is common on cars of this age and we take it into account.

AllGrip four wheel drive

Some Swifts have four wheel drive, sold as 4x4 or AllGrip. If yours has it, say so, because it is valued as a separate version.

Worth mentioning in your request

Your plate gives us the basics. These are the things only you can tell us.

  1. How long you have owned it, and what you know about earlier owners
  2. Whether the service book has been kept up
  3. Any rust you can see, with photos
  4. Whether it is front wheel drive or four wheel drive, if you know

Questions about selling a Suzuki Swift

Does rust stop you buying an older Swift?

No. Tell us where it is and send photos. Surface rust and rust on the sills are valued differently, so photos help us make an accurate offer.

Is the Swift Sport valued differently?

Yes. The Sport has a different engine and equipment, and the register shows it. Tell us about any parts that are not original, such as the exhaust or the wheels.

Do you buy cars without a valid APK?

Yes. The APK is the Dutch roadworthiness test. You do not need a new test before you sell the car to us. Tell us when it expired or what it failed on.

How does the handover work?

We agree a time and place with you. We check the car together and transfer it out of your name at the RDW on the spot. You are paid at the handover, and you receive the proof of transfer (vrijwaringsbewijs) the same day.
